Why Install An Alarm System?

Intruders are becoming increasingly more intent, and despite installing physical barriers, if they
want to get inside your premises, they will. The idea of an Alarm System is to create an Audible
and Visual alarm upon an intruder entering.

What Effect Will The Alarm Have?

Upon activation, the External siren and strobe will alert neighbours, and the Internal siren,
known as the SCREAMER, will create a piercing sound inside the premises, causing discomfort
to the intruder.

Should My Alarm System Be Monitored?

This depends on your personal situation.
Whilst there is an additional cost, monitoring provides many benefits:

Upon intruder detection, besides activating the sirens, your alarm can notify the monitoring centre
and initiate certain responses, such as POLICE patrol, private patrol and/or client contacts.
Most alarm systems now have EMERGENCY buttons such as FIRE, MEDICAL and POLICE.
When these are pressed, they initiate that type of response, providing your system is monitored.
Hardwired smoke detectors are becoming compulsory to all homes in South Australia. When
connected to your monitored alarm system, upon activation, they will automatically initiate FIRE
service response. SEE MORE UNDER SERVICES

Which System Do I Choose?

Your security provider should offer a choice of well known alarm systems. Be wary of the lesser
known brands, as parts may be impossible to acquire, years later.
To achieve the best results, an alarm system should be specifically designed for your premises.
Take note of the siren types offered, as many standard type sirens and screamers can be very
easily defeated.

Can I Use My Alarm System While I am At Home?

In recent years there has been a sharp increase in HOME INVASIONS.
Most alarm systems can help combat this problem by utilising STAY or HOME mode. This is
where certain parts of your alarm system may be active, and certain parts not. This can be
particularly useful at night time, where living areas or perimeter doors and windows may be
armed, and bedroom areas disarmed.
Personal duress or emergency buttons can also be placed throughout the premises, to give
24 hour protection and peace of mind.

Who Can We Trust To Install Our Alarm?

Your security provider should legally hold an appropriate security agents licence.
In South Australia, we are fortunate enough to have a body of reputable security providers who
form the NATIONAL SECURITY ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA (NSAA). Members of NSAA have all had S.A. Police clearances and are Government licenced through the Office of Consumer
and Business Affairs (OCBA).
NSAA is continually advising Government Departments, Ministers and S.A. Police officials on
security matters affecting this state.
An appropriately licensed security provider who is also a current corporate member of NSAA
is your best choice.

What About After Alarm Installation?

After sales and hours service is very important, so be wary of security providers who only
install alarms!
Another very important issue regarding your security is the safe keeping of client records.
Ensure that your security provider locks all client records in safes, not filing cabinets, and
that their premises are protected by both alarm and CCTV systems.
